𖡡 Paojilhuasca Medicine Camp

You will be picked up from Iquitos airport on the 5th of October, taken to get money exchanged (if needed) & then taken to a beautiful restaurant on the river front before we head off. Together we will travel along the Amazon river by private boat to our destination in the jungle. Once our week in the jungle is complete we will do the same in reverse, making our way back to Iquitos airport to catch our flight to Cusco.

*Please note that when it comes to plant medicines, partaking in ceremony is always a choice. We will recommend what we believe is most beneficial for you, but nothing is compulsory, this is just what is on offer for you to experience. If you do choose to partake in ceremony you will be in the safest of hands with shamans who have dedicated their entire life to serving and connecting with the plants, facilitators who are integral, knowledgeable and dedicated to holding the space and master medicines in their purest form. Just like life, at the end of the day, your experience will always be what YOU put into it. // Integration is ALWAYS a vital part of the retreat container.*

2x Ayahuasca Ceremonies

Ayahuasca ceremonies happen twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays. As we will have taken care to purify you well before the first intake, your first journey with the Plant will take place in the best possible conditions.

1x Kambo Healing Treatments

On your first day, we recommend a round of Kambo, the venom extracted from an Amazonian frog. Kambo purifies and heals the body through a deep cleansing. The indigenous do not consider Kambo as a ceremony but rather a healing treatment. You will have the ability to have more treatments on other days if you feel the call.

1x Yopo Ceremony

Yopo ceremonies, a powder made from the seeds of a Brazilian tree. Rich in DMT, you’ll experience a visionary journey lasting around one hour.

2x Mambaè Talking Circles

The evening of the day after each ayahuasca ceremony, we hold a talking circle accompanied by Mambé, a powdered coca leaf whose main virtue is to open the heart and free words. In this way, the circle enables us to talk about, understand, and share what we experienced in ceremony with the other participants, while strengthening our social ties.

Rapé (hapeh)

Rapé (Amazonian snuff) is a sacred shamanic medicine or tool, that has been used by tribes of the Amazon basin for thousands of years and is an essential part of their tribal culture and history. Rapé, like all our medicines is optional, but on offer for you to experience when you choose.

Welcoming Floral Bath

On the day of your arrival, you will have a floral bath with medicinal plants to welcome and settle you into the space, then a talking circle in the evening to connect with the community.

Medicine Preparation

You will have the ability to learn and prepare your own Ayahuasca, collect your own Kambo frogs at night & learn the process of Yopo.

Jungle / River Tours

As for the activities on offer, you’ll be treated to a boat trip and a tour of the jungle in the company of a certified guide who will show you the medicinal and master plants in their natural environment. The village also has a football pitch where the village children often play.

Ecstatic Dance

There’s also an ecstatic dance towards the end of your stay, to completely let go in the heart of a dance-trance, to free yourself from what has emerged with the medicine.

Preparation & Integration Breath Work

As a group, we are guided through breath work to help settle the mind & nerves before ceremony. You also have the ability to have 1:1 sessions post ceremony to help with integration. You will also be able to continue this practice online once leaving if desired.

Post Ceremony Workouts

On the day after ceremony we collectively do a HIIT workout to sweat out any medicine that may still remain in the body.

Daily Qigong

We start our days by centring & balancing our energy.

Connection with Shamans

You will have the ability to connect 1:1, work 1:1, ask questions & receive personal assistance from both La Maestro & Don Gardel.

Cold Plunge

Ice bath will be on offer during your stay.

Shipibo Market

A group of Shipibo woman will come to our centre to showcase their incredible handmade clothing, artwork, artisans & talisman. You will also learn more about their culture.

Organic Meals

We take great care in the preparation of our meals, which are cooked with fresh, local food (all our fruit comes from the immediate vicinity). If consuming animal products, your meat is organic and always fresh, caught in the river or hunted the day of or only a few days prior to consuming. We always add superfoods such as Maca, Chia seeds and different types of flour to ensure that every meal is also full of vitamins and plant proteins. (vegetarian, vegan & GF options available)

Optional Bufo Ceremony

We also have Bufo (additional cost), extracted from a toad in Mexico’s Sonora desert, whose active ingredient is 5-MEO-DMT. This experience is described as a meeting with "god".

Don Gardel

Ayahuasquero, kambocero, and co-founder

Don Gardel comes from long lineage of shamans: his grandfather was one, and his two brothers are shamans as well. In his young age he had the chance to live with the Matses, an indigenous group, on the Brazilian border. There, he learned to work with kambo and rapé. Later on, he fell ill, and La Maestra Alicia cured him by finding an old spell that his grandfather had put on him when he was just a kid, a spell to become a shaman. Don Gardel started to train, dieting plants with Alicia and has since become a shaman. Working and traveling around Peru, he has worked under the tutelage of other curanderos. Gardel has since founded the Paojilhuasca Amazonian Medicine Camp along with Fabrizio.

La Maestra Alicia

Ayahuasquera, Vegetalista

La maestra Alicia comes from a long lineage of curanderos: both of her grandfathers were tabacceros, meaning shamans that work with the plant of tobacco to cure. As is often the case, she became a shaman after a serious life crisis that made her abandon her family and live in the street. After being cured by ayahuasca, she felt called by the medicine to treat other people. She is self taught, but when asked, she says that the plants teach her. She lives between the Paojilhuasca center and a very remote area along Momon River near Iquitos. This special isolation in nature makes her power even stronger thanks to the deep connection with the environment.

Fabrizio

Co-founder, manager, and researcher

Fabrizio Beverina’s background is in biomedical research. He was an expert in brain-computer interaction and emotional computing. He secured a patent for the creation of a brain computer machine and a number of his articles have been cited more than 1000 times as a result of this ventures. He fled the scientific world and studied meditation in Asia, spending 12 years in China and then traveling to Tibet and India to study with Tibetan Buddhist monks.

He founded RiShi Labs Dali, an anarchist community for musicians and artists in Yunnan, China. There, he used the alias Kandido Burenson to pursue his creative side. He created comics, experimental theatre, ink paintings, and interactive video installations. He later founded Artha LTD in Hong Kong, one of the eight more cutting-edge firms invited to participate in London Techcrunch in the field of AI-assisted education.

He is currently conducting research on shamanic cures while maintaining a scientific perspective, all with respect to the tradition and the spiritual side of life. He has lived with several shamans in Colombia, Peru, and Brazil, where he learned a great deal about therapeutic plants. Along with Don Gardel, he co-founded Paojilhuasca, where he also teaches meditation and Qi Gong and assists in making a variety of ancestral medicines.

Doctor, holistic healer

Compassionate and dedicated medical professional with specialized expertise in general and emergency medicine, and knowledge in physiology, gynecology, oncology, neurology, and psychiatry. My journey in medicine, driven by curiosity and a holistic approach, led me to explore yoga, meditation, conscious breathing, spirituality, and the medicine of Amazonian indigenous culture and find out how to blend scientific knowledge with alternative healing methods.

Currently focused on integrating conventional medical practices with holistic health approaches to promote overall well-being and self-awareness; committed to patient-centered care, emphasizing prevention, health, and personal growth and fostering strong patient relationships through empathetic communication.

Through breathwork and psychonautics, I connect with patients, supporting their healing journeys and helping them achieve balanced, healthy lives. I lead workshops and retreats focusing on self-recognition exploring consciousness, promoting personal growth and unlocking potential.

My goal is to blend traditional medical knowledge with alternative healing methods, creating a holistic approach that addresses the physical, mental, relational and spiritual needs of patients, promoting sensitive self-regulation and exploring possibilities beyond standardization.

THE SACRED VALLEY

We will fly to Cusco (mountains) together on the 12th of October after our week in the jungle. The domestic flight from jungle to mountains is not included within your retreat package. You will be guided on which flight to book to try ensure we all arrive around a similar time in the mountains. A rough price of your domestic flight including luggage is $160 USD. You will be picked up from Cusco airport and driven to our incredible retreat centre in the Sacred Valley. Once the retreat has finished on the 19th of October, we will help arrange transport to either the airport or your next destination.

Despacho Ceremony & Coca Education

A traditional Andean ceremonial prayer & offering + welcoming to the land lead by a local Quechua guide.

Wachuma Ceremony (San Pedro)

We will journey up to the Huchuy Qosqo Ruins where we will drink medicine, explore the incredible views, feel the history & be in ceremony. Later on we will make our way back to Hacienda Puacartika where there will be fire, food, music & options for whichever stage you are at in your journey. Wachuma is a plant cactus medicine with origins in the ancient Andean Mountains of Peru. The medicine is considered a masculine, Father plant teacher.

Huchuy Qosqo Ruins

Huchuy Qosqo meaning “little cusco” in Quechua is situated directly above the Hacienda Puacartika. During the time of the Incas it was known as: Qaqyaqawana, a Quechua word, which refers to “from where the lightning is observed”. This archaeological zone is located on a small plain at an altitude of 3,670 meters above sea level.

Andean & Amazonian Weaving & Symbology w/ Local Mamita

Learn the art of Andean weaving and its sacred patterns from local artisans. When available, explore Amazonian designs from tribes like Shipibo, Huni Kuin, or Yawanawa, with the option to purchase unique handcrafted textiles.

Towards the end of retreat, we will make our way to Pisac where you will have plenty of time to explore the incredible markets.

Sirenchayoc Waterfall Blessing

Directly across the river from us is a really beautiful waterfall and path with different levels of falls to stop at. We will also offer blessings by the waterfall.

Lares Hot Springs

The temperature of the Thermal Baths in Lares varies between 36a and 44aC and is part of the outcrops of medicinal mining waters, and is known for its healing properties and therapeutic relief. The hot springs of Los Baños Termales de Lares are made up of a group of six pools. These are fed by temperate waters to varying degrees.

Traditional Temazcal

A traditional Temazcal sweatlodge is a Lakota-style structure used for a spiritual ceremony of prayer and healing.

Andean Healing Plant & Essential Oil Workshop

You will learn from experts from the high mountain communities about the traditional uses of Andean plants for medicine and healing. + Enjoy an oil distillation session to create your own plant essence.

Integration Assistance

We will have plenty of talking circles & dedicated time of reflection to assist with integration. Both Mackenzie & Luke will be of service not only throughout retreat but post our time together as well.

Optional Coca Leaf Reading

In Peru, the coca leaf has a rich and important history, with many Peruvians valuing the leaves as highly as gold. The Incas treasured coca not only for its medicinal properties, but also for the integral part it played in their sacred rites and rituals. South Americans have cultivated coca plants for nearly 8,000 years. The Coca Leaves Reading Session is a spiritual practice since ancient Inca times. When people had to make important decisions or needed advice related to their family, farming season, personal problems, or they wanted to know the weather forecast, they used to ask the sacred Coca Leaves for guidance. Within a reading the participant asks a question, an oracle is engaged, and the “willa uma paqo tayta” Quechua guide interprets the answers. The answers you receive enable a better understanding of your destiny and inspire positive and constructive action.

IMPORTANT

- Everyone will meet at Iquitos airport on the 5th of October for a 7:30am LEAVE to ensure we have enough time to exchange money, go for breakfast & arrive at our private boat which will take us to the jungle. We recommend arriving to Iquitos on the 4th of October, a day prior to the start of retreat to ensure you are on schedule.

- We recommend having US dollars exchanged prior to your arrival in Peru. Most currency exchanges in Peru will only do so from US dollar. There are ATM's available in Peru, however you will be charged a compensation fee per transaction & can only get a certain amount of money out at a time.

- If you wish to extend your stay in Peru, our recommendation would be to do so at the end of retreat rather than before. The Sacred Valley is one of the most incredible places we have experienced and we wouldn't be surprised if you also don't want to leave!
